At  S T U D I O  B  all classes are for all levels.  The primary style of yoga we teach is a power vinyasa flow, inspired by the Baptiste Power Vinyasa Style. In this style you connect breath to movement as you flow from one pose to the next, building heat and fluidity. These classes take place in a heated room which encourages sweating, detoxifies the body, and helps the muscles stretch deeper.  We emphasize the power of alignment, balance, and focus. We also offer other types of yoga for every practitioner including Yin, Gentle Flow and Kids Yoga. Regardless of your age or level of experience, our high-quality instructors will lead you through a practice that will leave you feeling energized and empowered.  Burn calories, stretch and strengthen muscles, relax the mind, cleanse the body, and be inspired.

TRUE OR FALSE

I'M NOT FLEXIBLE ENOUGH FOR YOGA

FALSE! The most common misconception about yoga, for sure, is that you need to be flexible in order to practice.  This couldn't be further from the truth.  In fact, you don't need to be flexible AT ALL to take yoga.  Many of the poses you see on the internet and in magazines are not realistic for the average yogi, and we don't expect otherwise. Yoga, however, can help you become more flexible, but that's just one of the many benefits.

YOGA IS TOO BORING FOR ME

LOL!!! We get this one a lot too and can't help but chuckle.  Let's just say, it's not called POWER vinyasa for nothin'.......

I CAN'T AFFORD YOGA

You can't afford NOT to! We like to think of yoga as an investment in your health and quality of life.  A regular yoga practice will increase your overall wellbeing which is something money can't buy.  That being said, we are sensitive to financial concerns. Here is our advice: check the website often for special promotions, take one of our community classes for as little as $5 a class and no commitment, or, if you want to practice more than once a week, take advantage of our monthly auto renew package.

Q: WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

We recommend bringing a mat, towel, and water bottle.  The studio has these items for rent and/or sale if you forget.  We offer complimentary blocks and straps, but if you have your own, feel free to bring those too.

Q: WHAT IF IT'S MY FIRST TIME?

No problem! Our teachers are trained to teach to all levels, and our classes are designed for everyone.  If you're feeling hesitant, feel free to pop in early and ask all the questions you wish.  Our instructors are scheduled to arrive one half hour before class starts and are happy to help.  We were all beginners once and understand that a new class can be intimidating.  Our goal is for your first experience to be a positive one.  

Q: I'M PREGNANT, CAN I STILL PRACTICE?

Many doctors recommend yoga during pregnancy.  That being said, it's important you consult your doctor first and find out what's best for YOU and YOUR pregnancy.  If you get the green light, just give your instructor a heads-up before class.  Although most poses are safe for most pregnant women, some may require slight modifications.

YOGA ETIQUETTE

  • When you arrive to the studio, please check in at the front desk, even if you signed up for class online.

  • You may leave your belongings in the cubbies in the lounge area.  Please try to keep your things in one central location, and be mindful of the space others will need.

  • We practice barefoot, so please remove shoes and socks before entering the practice area.

  • Cellphones are not permitted in the practice room.  You may leave your cellphones in the lounge area, but please ensure they are turned off or on silent.  We recommend avoiding cellphone use directly before and after class.

  • Many students use their time in the practice room before and after class to meditate and enjoy peace and quiet.  Please be mindful of this and keep all talking to a whisper in this space.  More vibrant socializing is not only allowed, but encouraged, in the lounge and retail areas.

  • In the practice room, try to keep all of your props and personal items to the left of your mat.

  • We sweat in yoga.  A lot.  Please attend to your personal hygiene.

  •  If you are arriving late or leaving early, please do so quietly, calmly, and without disrupting others.

  • Finally, please be aware that yoga is a PRACTICE.  We are all in different stages of our personal journeys, and you should never feel discouraged if your pose looks different than someone else's.  Respect where you are in your own journey and know that it is exactly where you are supposed to be.
